Your Gold Teeth II - Steely Dan --------------------------------- From the album 'Katy Lied' Transcribed by Howard Wright hakwright (at) gmail (dot) com All chord shapes given at the end. INTRO : -------- The second half of the intro sequence is mostly just a repeat of the first half (up until the Cm7 chord). The only real differences are with the Bb/C chord (shifted up a semitone than back down in the first half) and with the final Cm7 chord. The mu-major is basically an add2 chord - a major triad with the 2nd added. Wherever you see a straight major chord listed below, you can substitute the mu-major (add2). (It makes the typing easier if I just type "A G D" etc instead of "Aadd2 Gadd2 Dadd2") The choice of where you substitute the add2, and where you play the straight major is partly up to you and partly determined by how easy the chords are to play on guitar. On the original, the piano plays a lot of subtly different chord voicings, some are plain major chords, but most are mu-majors (add2). What works well on the piano though is often hard to play on the guitar! I've written out a few possibilities in the chord shapes below - both for the major chords and the add2 variations. Pick and choose whatever you like the sound of (and can get your fingers round). The change from the F#m7 to the C#m7 and then back is kind of optional. The piano plays this part on most verses, so I added it in. If you like, you can just stick to F#m7.
